Julie Brickman, Carlsbad (by way of Toronto) 1999 Julie Brickman's debut novel, “What Birds Can Only Whisper”, was published in 1997 by Turnstone Press. Her second novel, The Empty Quarter, is near completion as is A Writer-in-Residence in the Yukon, a memoir of her three months at the Berton House in Dawson City. She has an M.F.A. in Writing from Vermont College and a Ph.D. in Psychology from the University of Manitoba. A dual citizen, she currently lives in San Diego, California and writes full time.
