Eric Wilson, Victoria

2004

Eric Wilson was born November 24, 1940 in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. His childhood was spent in the diverse regions of Canada as his family moved often to accompany his father who was a career RCMP officer. This experience gave Eric a unique appreciation for the vastness and variety inherent in Canadian culture and geography. His mystery series takes readers to every Canadian province and the Northwest Territories.

He graduated with a B.A. in Education from University of British Columbia in 1963 followed by a one-year teacher-training course at UBC. Eric went from teaching full-time in White Rock, B.C. -1968/69-, to being a part-time author -1970- publishing his first novel in 1976. He has been a full-time author since 1985 with 21 published novels.

Wilson has lived in Victoria, British Columbia since 1985. In 1999 he married Flo Connolly in Niagara Falls, Ontario.

Eric Wilson is a hero to Canadians and, indeed, to kids all over the world who have read his books. He embodies the qualities that define Canadians, honest, forthright and unassuming. He is a successful writer of mystery stories for children, having sold almost one million books in Canada alone. With sales in Spain exceeding 650,000 and with the recent sale of six of his books to Japan, there seems to be no limit to Eric's global popularity.
